Small Team? Get A Second Opinion!

In the fast-paced world of advocacy and government affairs, every decision counts. Your advocacy plans are the backbone, making a difference and adding value for your organization and members. But even the most well-crafted strategies can benefit from a fresh perspective. That’s where “Second Opinion” comes in.

What is a Second Opinion?

A Second Opinion is a specialized service designed to provide leaders and/or one-person or small government affairs teams with a confidential review and actionable recommendations to enhance your advocacy plans or legislative agenda.

This is a service we wish we had access to years ago... but it didn't exist. Now it does!

Why Get a Second Opinion?

Expert Insights: Having worked for small organizations, we know how hard it can be for small or single-person departments, especially those that direct volunteer advocacy committees. Understanding resource challenges is key to offering actionable suggestions that are scaled to EXISTING time and budget resources.

Professional Development: If your government affairs staff doesn't have someone to collaborate with or learn from, it's easy to be held back by "what you don't know you don't know." A Second Opinion review can give your staff a hands-on opportunity for professional development, making them all the more valuable to your organization.

Cost-Effective: Small organizations need to be mindful of every dollar. Second Opinion reviews are not a hidden sales pitch, like you might get from a contract lobbying firm. They're designed to be stand-alone, short-term engagements.

Ethical Always: Casper Corcoran doesn't directly lobby, so there's no chance of us working against your playbook. However, in the case of potential conflicts, we defer to clients on a first-booked basis -- even if the second engagement has a higher price tag. (And, if the situation arises where we have multiple clients who are working towards the same goal, we can connect you and build a coalition.)

How a Second Opinion Works

Consultation: We start with a one- to two-hour consultation to understand your current advocacy plans and objectives.

Review: An analysis of your strategies, tactics, and messaging.

Report: You receive a detailed report with findings and recommendations.

Follow-Up Support: If it makes sense to your situation, we offer ongoing advice to help you revise and/or implement your plan.

What a Second Opinion Costs

Small engagement - roughly five hours - $500*
Medium engagement - roughly 10 hours - $900*
Large engagement - roughly 20 hours - $1600*

*This pricing is good for engagements that start during 2024. Future pricing may vary. The sooner you book, the sooner you lock in the price.

Ongoing support after an initial engagement can be by retainer (varies) or by the hour at 80% of your hourly engagement cost. (So if we contract for a medium engagement, your ongoing hourly rate would be $72/hour.)

Ready to take the next step? The sooner you book your engagement the better. So let's have a (free) 30-minute conversation and talk about what that looks like!

(Last note: Don't make the mistake of waiting until session starts to create your plan. Election results shouldn't change your goals, only your strategies and tactics.)
